departure overboelare

All our canoes in Overboelare are two-person boats. Each two-person boat has space for one additional child without a paddle (child under 10 years old).

When you set off in a canoe from Overboelare (Geraardsbergen), you start at the café Het Bruggenhuis (Majoor Van Lierdelaan 50, Geraardsbergen). Note that the café is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, making canoe rental impossible on these days. On all other days, canoes are rented between 11 am and 7 pm.

It is advisable to bring a waterproof bag, sunscreen, a hat, and drinks. From Overboelare, you paddle upstream towards the lock of Deux-Acren (5 km one way, about 2 hours back and forth). Halfway through your time, you turn around to return to the starting point (see map). The departure and arrival point are therefore the same.

At the start of the rental, you as a participant must submit your driver's license or identity card as a deposit for the received material. In case of loss or damage, you must compensate for this material (paddle; €25 - life jacket €55).

In dangerous conditions (e.g., high water levels), the canoe rental can be closed. In this case, you are not entitled to compensation. You can pick another time to come paddling or the registration fee will be refunded.
